Welcome to the McDermott Law Office

Marissa McDermottMarissa McDermott graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2000. As a student, she also interned in New York City for the nation’s 5th largest law firm, working in their Intellectual Property division.

After graduating from law school, she worked for several Northwest Indiana firms, representing insurance companies and their clients. Through this, she gained valuable experience in personal injury law, employment law, and business litigation. Marissa was then appointed a Lake County Public Defender, where she continues to represent indigent clients in Lake County criminal justice system.

For seven years, Marissa taught as an adjunct professor at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, teaching Business Law and Employment Law. This position has kept her on the cutting edge of emerging legal issues.
